I’m Matthew Frey, LCSW an experienced Fortune 500 psychotherapist, addiction specialist and mental fitness coach providing telehealth mental health support for adults across New York and in-person sessions in East Setauket, Long Island.

MY background

While I’ve worked with professionals from dozens of companies in all kinds of industries, at my heart I simply aim to help my clients overcome roadblocks holding them back from achieving their full potential. I am a licensed clinical social worker, psychotherapist, addiction specialist and mental fitness coach with nearly 20 years of experience helping diverse clients achieve their personal and professional goals. I specialize in the treatment of stress, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, parenting, career/work concerns, adjustment issues, life transitions, major mental illness, and trauma.

My background includes consulting with top law firms and counseling employees at Fortune 500 companies including Broadridge, Microsoft, BlackRock, JP Morgan, McDermott, Will & Emery, Kirkland & Ellis, and Delta Airlines. I was trained in prestigious hospitals and spent seven years working at Rikers Island Correctional Facility, providing trauma-informed therapy and solution-focused counseling.

I am experienced in developing and facilitating trainings and presented on topics including: Overcoming Imposter Syndrome, Managing ADHD at Work, Tips for Developing Emotional Intelligence at Work, and more.

I use an eclectic approach to therapy, tailored to the goals and preferences of the client. My treatment style is integrative and strength-based and can incorporate tenets of CBT, motivational interviewing, crisis management, psychodynamic therapy, or trauma-informed counseling, depending on the client’s unique situation. I enjoy nothing more than bringing out the best in others, seeing them grow, and helping them attain peace and fulfillment that has eluded them.

Your counseling experience begins with a free 15-minute phone consultation, giving you the opportunity to discuss your concerns, ask questions, and explore what you hope to achieve through therapy. This call helps ensure a strong therapeutic fit so you feel comfortable and supported from the start. After your consultation, your therapist will schedule an initial session where you’ll collaborate to create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your goals, symptoms, and unique life circumstances.
